KFM, SLE and Vanguard Medical shortlisted for the 2023 HSJ Awards, setting the standard for healthcare excellence.

KFM, alongside SLE and Vanguard Medical, is delighted to announce that the ‘Delivering the UK’s first fully crash-tested transport trolley system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCH)’ project has been shortlisted for at the HSJ Awards 2023, recognising an outstanding contribution to healthcare.

A ‘record-breaking’ 1456 entries have been received for this year’s Awards, with 223 projects and individuals reaching the final shortlist, making it the biggest awards programme in the award’s 43-year history. The high volume - and exceptional quality – of applications once again mirrors the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed within the UK’s healthcare networks.

This incredible project highlights how KFM partnered with two UK suppliers, SLE and Vanguard Medical, to deliver a bespoke and innovative solution for the replacement of four neonatal transport incubator trolleys for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), alongside clinical and MEMS teams at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This partnership resulted in the successful design and development of the UK’s first fully crash tested transport trolley system for critically ill neonates. This fully specified product fills a gap in the market and is directly impacting positively on patient safety and clinical efficiency with best practice shared across the market and implemented in other NHS organisations.

Jo Jones, Director of Managed Services at KFM, commented:We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the HSJ Partnership Award category, recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our teams which  has been instrumental in achieving this milestone. Wewould like to express our gratitude to the Medical Engineering and Clinical teams at KCH for their unwavering support and expertise, without which none of this would have been possible.

Our commitment to delivering improved outcomes for patients has been a driving force behind this achievement. To be included in the category alongside other remarkable nominees is an  honour, especially considering the unprecedented volume of entries from so many Trusts and individuals.

This recognition serves as a significant boost for our team and reinforces our determination to deliver exceptional results. We are proud to have the opportunity to share our success with colleagues from across the entire sector, and we look forward to showcasing everything we've learned throughout the implementation of our project.”

HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, added; It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge KFM, SLE and Vanguard Medical for being shortlisted in the HSJ Partnership Award Category. It’s been so encouraging to hear that 2023 has been record-breaking in terms of the number of applicants and, as ever, the calibre of entries left our panel of expert judges with some tough decisions to deliberate over.

However, it’s always important to remember that the HSJ Awards are not just a celebration of success stories but also a platform to shape the future of the NHS.

We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in November and to recognise and applaud such impressive achievements across the sector – as well as coming together to help mark the 75th birthday of our great NHS. Huge thanks also go to our new headline partner, Vodafone, who share our mission of driving the standard of healthcare excellence and creating better patient experiences.”

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on November 16th 2023.

The event will not only reflect the HSJ Awards’ enduring ethos of “sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and innovating drivers of better service” but will also serve as a timely and well-deserved thank you to the sector during the 75th anniversary year of the NHS.
