Managed Services

The Managed Services team strive to provide the best experience for stakeholders through developing a full understanding of our customer requirements to enable them to focus on patient care.

The team provide a dedicated account manager to coordinate our customer needs in relation to procurement, supply chain, equipment, technical support and maintenance. Our customers can also expect quick resolution and support to challenges as well as facilitation of innovation, development and efficiency opportunities.

Listed below are the current clinical areas we support and the services that we provide:

Theatres Service

King’s College Hospital has a total of 52 theatres across the four sites – Denmark Hill, Orpington Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. There is a mix of inpatient and day case theatres, with specialist inpatient theatres for Liver Transplant/Hepato-pancreato- biliary (HPB) surgery, Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery.
KFM is also responsible for the provision of instrument sterilisation services. We also provide a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of theatres, providing technical training and equipment management.

Radiology Service

Specialist radiology services are provided at four sites: Denmark Hill, Orpington Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital and Beckenham Beacon. The radiology department includes general radiology, breast radiology, nuclear medicine and neuroradiology. A full range of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic radiology investigations are provided including CT, MRI and radionuclide therapies.

Endoscopy Decontamination Services

King’s College Hospital has two Endoscopy units, one at the Denmark Hill site and the other at the Princess Royal University Hospital. KFM also provides a comprehensive decontamination service for flexible endoscopes at the Denmark Hill site to a range of internal departments.

Cardiac Catheter Laboratory

King’s College Hospital has a four-roomed Cardiac Catheter Laboratory at its Denmark Hill site and provides a range of state-of-the-art interventional treatments (coronary, structural and electrophysiological) as well as non-invasive diagnostic procedures.
A service is also run at the Princess Royal University Hospital and is based in the Radiology department.

Liver Laboratories

King’s Liver Laboratories provide CPA Accredited Liver pathology services and process about 120,000 diagnostic tests per year. The Liver Laboratories cover four diagnostics labs:

  • Hepatitis testing
  • Immunosuppressive drug monitoring
  • Liver molecular genetics
  • Histopathology

Critical Care

King’s College Hospital has circa 100 adult and children’s Critical Care Beds across its Denmark Hill and Princess Royal University Hospital sites. KFM is responsible for the provision of a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of the Critical Care units maintaining the bed side equipment and technical training for staff working in the unit.

Renal Dialysis Services

KFM supports King’s College Hospital in the provision of haemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) services. KFM have a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of the renal dialysis units and provide technical training as well as equipment management.

Dental Services

King’s College Hospital provides a range of adult and children’s dental service for patients who need hospital dental and/or oral healthcare treatment. This includes providing dental care for plus-size patients (bariatric dentistry). They offer a full range of sedation: inhalation, intravenous and general anaesthesia.

Wider Trust Support

Along with the nine services above, KFM also provides managed services to clinical and ward areas across the five sites of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This enables clinical staff to focus on patient care while KFM provides an enhanced supply chain service and procurement activity across the Trust.
