King’s College Hospital has a total of 52 theatres across the four sites – Denmark Hill, Orpington Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. There is a mix of inpatient and day case theatres, with specialist inpatient theatres for Liver Transplant/Hepato-pancreato- biliary (HPB) surgery, Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery.
King’s FM is also responsible for the provision of instrument sterilisation services. We also provide a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of theatres, providing technical training and equipment management.
Specialist radiology services are provided at four sites: Denmark Hill, Orpington Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital and Beckenham Beacon. The radiology department includes general radiology, breast radiology, nuclear medicine and neuroradiology. A full range of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic radiology investigations are provided including CT, MRI and radionuclide therapies.
King’s College Hospital has two Endoscopy units, one at the Denmark Hill site and the other at the Princess Royal University Hospital. King’s FM also provides a comprehensive decontamination service for flexible endoscopes at the Denmark Hill site to a range of internal departments.
King’s College Hospital has a four-roomed Cardiac Catheter Laboratory at its Denmark Hill site and provides a range of state-of-the-art interventional treatments (coronary, structural and electrophysiological) as well as non-invasive diagnostic procedures.
A service is also run at the Princess Royal University Hospital and is based in the Radiology department.
King’s Liver Laboratories provide CPA Accredited Liver pathology services and process about 120,000 diagnostic tests per year. The Liver Laboratories cover four diagnostics labs:
King’s College Hospital has circa 100 adult and children’s Critical Care Beds across its Denmark Hill and Princess Royal University Hospital sites. King’s FM is responsible for the provision of a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of the Critical Care units maintaining the bed side equipment and technical training for staff working in the unit.
King’s FM supports King’s College Hospital in the provision of haemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) services. King’s FM have a dedicated team of highly experienced technical staff who support the day-to-day running of the renal dialysis units and provide technical training as well as equipment management.
King’s College Hospital provides a range of adult and children’s dental service for patients who need hospital dental and/or oral healthcare treatment. This includes providing dental care for plus-size patients (bariatric dentistry). They offer a full range of sedation: inhalation, intravenous and general anaesthesia.
